“Trina?” he asks, extending a hand for me to shake.

“Yes,” I respond. He steps aside and I enter the apartment. There are two men standing inside the apartment. They stare at me without a word. Their hands are clasped before them. Their silence is frightening.

“Don’t mind them,” the man says, coming up beside me. He rests a palm on the small of my back and directs me towards the living room, which is straight ahead. We both sit.

“Hello, Trina.” He is sitting across from me in an armchair, the only thing between us a dark brown coffee table. He leans forward and rests his elbows on his knees. “I’ve waited a long time to meet you. J’Dub always had much to say about you.” He grins at these words.
